Red Snow,

the comic which has
never been released

I usually draw in a playful manner, so most of my pictures were the result of simply having fun. I like doing light single-frame comics a lot, but, on the other hand, I also love to draw exquisite paintings.

The picture above is called Fossil Workshop; as like most of my work, the theme is based on my real life experience.

In 1998, I was preparing for the making of Red Snow, the Story of Moonless Sword. One of my partners was a painter, so my passion for drawing was once again ignited. I picked up my pens and started the storyboard; it was supposed to be a few sets of illustrations, but eventually it had turned into a fully developed comic book.

Movie industry under the influence of computer technology has a lot of room for growth. The draft I made, which shown on the previous page, was later refined by my friend Au Yang and eventually turned into an artistic painting; it is the scene of Red Snow going to the city of Phoenix.

As the story involved a very powerful weapon, “t"the Peacock's Plume", Au Yang and I agreed that the story should be scientifically grounded. The ancient city Tunhaung and its mythical nature suited the story very well. It is said that the city had a highly developed canal system and was a place where east met west. The story is based on the unsolved mystery of the perished Persia Empire and there are clues which lead Red Snow through an amazing journey.

However, there were major differences of opinion and the partnership ended. Later, based on the original story, I developed a new version, Red Snow, the Moonless Sword, and the already finished Tianya Mingyue Dao was abandoned.
